Gay Eagles
To the Editor:
Your National News section of the March 1985 issue of the Gay Peoples Chronicle included a brief item on a study of the mating habits of bald eagles.

It seemed to me that you deliberately used this technique to get more people to read the articles. If this saved even one life, it was worthwhile. Does "Name Withheld" expect you your head in the sand, like himself? I can't understand how anyone can value 'niceness" more than human lives. To the Editor:
Although the GPC publishes a lot of news and advice about AIDS, a lot of us would like more specific information about how many cases of AIDS Cleveland has. Bob Sharon

More on Safe Sex Articles
To the Editor:
As a straight man in a medical profession who sometimes reads the Chronicle, I'm writing about the letter
your October issue, from someone unwilling to give his name, objecting to the the words in your articles on safe sex. I refer to the author as a male, mostly beof the women I
cause none
To the Editor:
What on earth is wrong with people in this community like Name Withheld, who complained so vociferously about your safe sex articles?
I know Cleveland once had a mayor who insisted that the ultimate cause of all modern urban problems is pornography. But he was also the mayor who set his hair on fire with a welding torch. In any case, those articles could not in any sense be called pornography. Their purpose was very obvious, and they filled their purpose.
What particularly bothers me is Name Withheld's excessive concern for reactions of straight people. Do we judge each other by their yardsticks? Or is it just possible that Name Withheld is a straight person masquerading as a gay?

Antifeminist Praises Blatant Heterosexual s
To the Editor:
The CWRU student newspaper includes an advice column called Fun with Emma Lou. When a student recently asked for advice about women who try to pick up him and his boyfriend, she responded: "Dear man's man:
"Handle the situation the same way as if a man approached you: just say that you're attached and not interested. If you never want These girls to bother you a gain, tell them you're gay word will get around, and they'll leave you alone.

G. Smith
[Emma Lou, whatever it is, speaks from a vast reservoir of inexperience. Any gay person can testify that heterosexuals are often convinced that we can be redeemed, and knows that informing them of our sexual orientation redoubles their zeal to change us.
